It’s a dangerous business, going out of your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to. ~The Fellowship Of The Rings

The Kingdom of Cambodia has swept me of my feet... The country and its people made me go weak at the knees, but sent me home as a stronger photographer and a more confident visual storyteller. Throughout my Southeast Asian adventure I have been blessed by monks, and even more so with beautiful, unexpected gifts. I have been offert unique opportunities to practice my skills in capturing the light and creating meaningful images. Along the way, I have crossed paths with some extremely knowledgeable and inspiring people who’s feedback and belief in my art boost my courage to pursue my passion.

Fall seven times, stand up eight.

On the last day of the programme, I have been given the ultimate gift of the above image of the boys running through flooded roads to catch up with our tuk tuk. The image means the world to me... It not only reminds me of a very special moment in time that I shared with some truly amazing friends, it also summarizes my impressions of a country that thaught me about finding strength no matter the circumstances.

Keeping the flip-flops safe during flooded roads.

Every pixel of the image teaches me about the persistence to persevere. To keep going, to keep smiling no matter what. Cambodia has left me truly, madly and deeply grateful.

A smile so bright it lights up the world.
